Information about the current and upcoming Testbed pilots.
Improving the Energy Efficiency of Buildings with Drones and Robotics
Developed out of NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering, Building Diagnostic Robotics (BDR) have create devices capable of mapping building structures and identifying leaky envelopes. Through the Testbed program, BDR is testing its technology in partnership with the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) to facilitate data collection that can inform energy efficiency micro-retrofits.
Street Activity Sensors
Computer vision sensors are being piloted in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOT) to track what modes of transportation are being used on city streets as well as when they are using them. The data collected will inform DOT policymakers on how to best keep New Yorkers safe, whether they’re riding a bike, driving a car, or taking the bus.
Air Quality Improvement and Monitoring
In collaboration with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) air quality improvement devices (reducing particulate matter) and air quality monitors will be deployed to test the novel technology’s impact on local air quality.
